Gods of War

Here goes a level headed idiotic book review about a book by Ashok Banker, “Gods of War”.

A blend of science and religion. No, not the type portrayed in every Dan Brown book about some secret passed through generations through some cult society and no one revealing it. This is about Science being the Ultimate religion. Even the Gods accept that fact. Everything created is through science.

The story revolves around 5 main characters, each from a different part of the world or five parallel worlds to be precise who are picked up by Ganesha, yes, the Elephant God and transported to the region of Nothingness to join different races from different planets to be briefed about what is happening with the kingdom of God. Warring factions trying to destroy it and the Creator deciding to put an end to all his creations as he cannot take any longer.

A lot of comtemporaty issues like the American stance on terror, greed, the racist prejudice existing between different peoples etc has been portrayed brilliantly. Not to forget religious fanaticism. And misinterpretation of a lot of things. The characters are even transported to the Garden of Eden!

Now for the part I loved about the book. Naming of different chapters on Pink Floyd songs and Albums. The correlation is simply mind blowing!

Overall a prettydecent read. Ending may leave one disappointed as there is NO ending. This is the beginning of a series as the author puts it. I just can’t wait for the next in the series.

PS : I am sure not many would ve expected a book review from me. One of my New Year Resolutions is to read a few books this year.

PPS : Another reason for this review is a demand from a friend of mine.

PPPS : Whenever I read a book/watch a movie/listen to a band, I expect almost nothing great. Which means I ll end up enjoying it in some way.

PPPPS : Don’t judge the book by this review.

PPPPS : The PS series is Back!
