Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth Before It is Recycled

Out of nowhere, everyone is talking about climate change and how they are going to do their part by switching off the lights for an hour which what one might call the “Earth Hour”. Promos are at an all time high and there are invites flooding my inbox to join the cause.

Is that all that is there to it? Just one hour out of 365 * 24 hours? And what do we do in the remaining 364 * 24 + 23 hours?

  • Use air conditioning, whether the need be or not.
  • Not turn off lights whether we are going away from the room for 2 seconds or 2 days or in some of the worst cases, I ve seen 2 months!
  • Use automobiles to visit the grocery store a couple of blocks from our residence.
  • Use a 5 seater car to carry each pair of bums to work when a two wheeler would have served the purpose, just because it does not suit our status to travel by bike!
  • Litter all the available open spaces as long as the place doesn’t belong to us and then blame the municipal authorities for the stench caused by the rotting waste.
  • And importantly, laugh at posts and sermons like these and ask what the Fcuk the preacher would do if we do not practice what he preached.

PS : I will NOT be observing the Earth Hour.

PPS : Post titled after a Porcupine Tree song by the same name.

Earth hour it seems … Don’t observe it! It’s just another fancy thing! If we really want to save the earth, people should be worrying about it every hour!

This should actually make a good social media lesson. The ones are the beings who ‘devote themselves to noble causes and for welfare’ apparently. Rubbish.
Web initiatives such as this and the ‘No tweeting for 15 mins to mark the Jallianwallah Bagh massacre’ are desperate screams for attention. And they don’t get more obvious than this.
